M. Tacitus Claudius Tacitus came from an ancient Roman family. At the high age of 75 years he was elected Roman emperor and went shortly thereafter to Asia Minor. The exact circumstances of his death are not clear, either Tacitus died of old age or was murdered by his own soldiers.
