Martin Luther

Martin Luther (* November 10, 1483 in Eisleben, County of Mansfeld, February 18, 1546) is the central personality of the Reformation, the division of Western Christianity into different confessions.

He saw in the justification by faith the essence of the Christian faith, and henceforth relied exclusively on Jesus Christ.

Luther's influential theology and church policy as well as his language in biblical translation, preaching and song poetry contributed decisively to the profound changes of society, politics and culture of the early modern age.
